My sympathies to you both, my last two were a week late(and in June that's no fun). I tried everything barr Castor oil-apparently that's quite dodgy-I walked, had sex lots, ate curries(which only made the indigestion worse), went over speed bumps and even had a go on next doors trampoline,(gently I might add)! Eventually i insisted on a cervical rub which is not very dignified or comfortable, but often helps get things going and will give you an idea of how the cervix is progressing if nothing else. Failing that it's a case of get as comfy as possible, put your feet up and try to relax. Best wishes, H.

Hi, tell her the castor oil is the one and only guarentee that will 100 % start her off, just mix 1 table spoon in a large glass of orange juice, hold her nose and swig it back real quick, then go for a brisk walk rubbing her belly at same time, not a slow walk mind, quite fast.
The castor oil will actually make baby slide out easier too, some medical people tell you not too, but i was given it by my midwife with my first and second baby and have done it with all others since, im a mom to 6 with another on way, and trust me its never failed yet!!!!

pineapple and mango contains the same hormone as sperm which is supposed to start labour but then I ate whole pineapple and mango ( with my second pregnancy) and did not even get an upset stomach xx tried sex to that did not work either according to midwife I was nine days late but according to my dates she was two weeks early !! With my son I drank a bottle of castor oil which was revolting again nothing ! It very much depends on the baby they come out when they're ready x walking and dancing to shakira helped in the end good luck x
if she has a breast pump or she could do it by hand stimulate the nipples as if getting ready to breast feed this makes the womb contract saw it living tv midwife programme xx

The curry obviously wasn't hot enough and I have every sympathy with her on the bonking front. Go for a jog round the block or stand doing a couple of hours of ironing and let gravity take its course. Or have a double helping of vindaloo for lunch. I was going to mention turkey basters then but that would be a step too far!!

Good luck and much happiness to you and your family.

It was the day before my due date and I told my doctor that I really did not feel like going over that date. I was still having sex, I craved and ate spicy throughout my pregnancy, and I worked out 4 times a week for all 9 months and NOTHING helped. So the doctor stretched my cervix to stimulate labor. I started labor 5 hours later. Good luck!

The "castor oil" remedy is NOT a remedy it is an old wive's tale, so is the curry. The "due" date is just an estimate from when she "estimated" she concived. Pregnancy is NOT a precise science and the "normal" gestational period is anywhere from 36 to 42 weeks. So your wife is NOT overdue. You're just impatient.

Well, from experience...the castor oil thing does work. I was two days over due...I put the castor oil in some orange juice at 12:00 and two hours later my water broke... By 7:00 I was giving birth...

I know you've said your wife doesn't fancy been bonked all night but it is true that the semen contains a substance that does induce labour. Maybe have a play with yourself and just when you are about to ejaculate put your Mr inside her.

Anyway hope everything goes ok for mum, baby and yourself good luck!

I was absolutely HUGE when i reached my due date and my partner found the idea of having sex with me very very offputting to say the least as he was scared my waters were going to break all over him or something!

But i nagged and nagged him - we had sex and it worked a treat! Started having twinges after half an hour and 6 hours later i was 7cm dialated and in full blown labour!

Tell her to give it a go and hope you have the same luck!!

If it has been only one day, don't worry, what does the doctor say? I bet he said, that since you already have a history of being over-due then you are right on time, unless the baby is in distress. I have heard that walking can bring on the labor process, my mom used to clean the whole house to bring her labor on. most other things are kinda dangerous!!!
