What's that? I mean what's "love marriage?" That's the normal way, in which marriages take place in western countries. It's only in some countries, that there is something called "arranged marriage," wherein, you are expected to sleep with a stranger whom your elders have chosen for you! And quite often, though not always, the only thing that these elders really know about the person selected, is how "bed-able or bed-worthy" is the designated spouse for their own beloved aspiring spouse! Sorry, I said this, but please take it in light humor, and PLEASE UNDERSTAND the intended, underlying spirit of social improvement and wellness contained in it. The best of elderly persons, however, do find out quite a bit, about the antecedents of the selected spouse. But still, they (the elders) have no clue, as to future compatibility. Thus, many "arranged marriages" survive under family pressure, because "divorce" is a "social stigma," incompatibility between the spouses, notwithstanding! Into what has been refered here as "love marriages," the total accountability, is that of the couple concerned, the marriage expenses are less, and in case of subsequent incompatibility, there is always the option of a divorce, with mutual consent, intended for a happy outcome. The couple is, itself, responsible, and there is no "family-prestige (as if all families belong to some envisaged royal family!)", etc., involved. It has been, generally, observed by the public, that "arranged marriages" follow elaborate, traditional customs and do not avoid, otherwise avoidable expenditures, like exchange of large sums of cash, expensive ornaments and dresses...costly wedding and reception parties, involving exquisite presents / gifts! Many of these "arranged marriages" do not even care to get the marriages registered in court (!) and the spouses realize the need for court-registration, when they have to travel abroad or deal with property and / or other legal matters.
