It was written by one of California's thousands of child abuse victims, Dave Pelzer. The book is the first in a trilogy, portraying all the events related to his case.

His brother, Richard B. Pelzer, also wrote two books about his crazy mother's abuse towards him once Dave left.

David Pelzer. He has also written 2 follow up books that take him through his foster years after leaving his abusive mother and into adulthood.
He has also written some help books for problem kids.

His brother Richard Pelzer also has a book " A Brothers Tale {or Journey}" as once David left he bacame the next victim for their Mother. Yet still the other brothers deny anything happened. Amazingly heart rending yet at times heart warming books.

That was a very interesting book. It's hard to believe someone could actually do that to their own child.

Dave Pelzer is the author. It was the first of 3 books I believe.

It is most certainly Dave Pelzer. He also wrote two others that followed on from that one and they are called the lost boy and a man named Dave. they all address different ages of his life and are harrowing but addictive!
