Why do people think Bush is fighting for peace?

Think about it. How can starting a war and killing over half a million people bring peace? You can't force peace with a machine gun.

How do people think democracy can work in a country divided by religious belief and under local control of armed warlords?

If your village is under the control of an armed militia, your democratic election vote is simple. Vote for the warlord running your community or be murdered along with your family.

Bush hasn't only ruined Iraq, Afghanistan and helped ruin Lebanon. He's also ruined world peace. Most of all he's ruined America's image, economy, military & security (perhaps Posse Comitatus, Bill of Rights & the rest of the Constitution too?)

UPDATE - When you read comments like those from 'peaches' confusing Iraq with the people that carried out 9/11 & 7/7 and assuming every Iraqi death is that of a terrorist, you just feel scared. No Iraqi's danced on 9/11 - it was the Palestinians and the footage is disputed and thought to be propaganda. Some claim it's old footage & as the video of the celebrations was shot in bright sunlight but Palestine is 8 hours ahead of NY and was actually dark at the time, it must be fake.

Of course he is. Even sources inside the Whitehouse acknowledge that the "war on terror" has actually increased the number of terrorists and terror threats. Militancy is growing thanks to the US policy laid down by Bush.

To people like Aztec276, I would say, get a brain and think about the the facts before making a comments. You comment had no substance whatsoever. If you want to accept everything your President does as good and right then you may as well live in a totalitarian state with a nice fat dictator.

When was there ever anything remotely resembling world peace? You can't threaten something that doesn't exist or will ever exist. The sooner we destroy everything the sooner the human race can start over again which may be a a glimmer of hope but we still are at war with nature which has been anything but peacful.

I don't know that much about politics so probably should not answer this question in the way that I am going to. Yes he is a threat to world peace, I think out of all of them he would be the one must likely to press the button.

Not to worry folks. After the elections on November 7th he will not be much of a threat to anyone. Congress has the power of funding the war, and they will force El Presidente to get out of Iraq with great speed. In the last two years of his presidency he will be like a really mean dog with no teeth or claws. Menacing for sure, but not much of a threat and a little sad. Democracy saves the day.

Yes, he is. He is a dangerous, manipulative, war criminal who needs to be caged and put before trial for war crime ; crimes against humanity. Dare i say, where are the weapons of mass destruction, chemical factories and links to al-qaeda, which he profoundly drummed in UNO, an excuse to invade Iraq? He shamlessly lied to the whole world. He is supported by all the dictators of world and is responsible for haterd against america and is the biggest cause of disruption of world peace.

Yes, because he, and most of the American right, believe that they can impose their interests and values on others without making any attempt at understanding the opposing point of view. Such 'bully boy' tactics simply build up resentment which, when the pressure is high enough, almost inevitably erupts.

Mr. Bush is not a threat to world peace. The enemies of freedom are the threat to world peace. It amazes me the number of people who live in free societies, not just the United States that take for granted how good they have it. Even more appalling are the people who challenge every effort to bring freedom to oppressed regions of the world. Freedom has never been won without a fight and it cannot stand if free societies are not willing to fight to defend the concept. Stop making veiled excuses for terrorists, dictators and despots. These people must be engaged by the only means they respect or understand, FORCE! Failure to so will result in the loss of liberty for all.

chad: Your post is essentially correct, but it ignores one basic fact. Just like Republicans, Democrats have voted consistently and in a majority to continue to fund the war.
