My father-in-law is treating me to a cruise down the nile at the end of January, when Ill be six months pregnant. Im really looking forward to it and am a seasoned traveller, having been all over africa and south america in the past. Therefore Im aware of how easy it is to get jelly belly when u r not pregnant, and how to try to avoid it, such as not eating salads, soups, peel fruit etc. However, now im pregnant in a little more concerned than usual. Is there any other precautions, apart from the usual, that I should take in terms of food and drink. Im planning to take some non-perishables with me just n case, but am gonna have to eat local food and buffets probably. Also, People on here have advised me not to go at all because of locals who may harass me and jostle me etc and have said it is not safe. What is your opinion? Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks

Listen, forget the crap u r getting here. I have been on nile cruises more than 20 times. I fell in love with Egypt in the mid 80's and I visit at least once a year.
Nile cruises are usually based on all inclusive packages, you get all the food & drinks you need there. You will not need to bring any food or beverages with you unless you are into crackers, chocolate etc. The variety of food is beyond imagination and I often travelled with vegeterians and if u tell them ahead, they will make sure your needs are met. You will be amazed at how the service sector is customer friendly in Egypt.
Bring along sports shoes because you will need to do some walking if you intend on visiting the monuments and believe me they are well worth the effort.
As for the locals, there is no harrassment, there are many street vendors and some beggars but that is about it. No security concerns at all.
If you are on certain medications, bring plenty along cause the cruise often parks in small towns where the pharamcies only sell the basics.
Final word of advice, winter is cold in Egypt, despite popular belief. Bring some t-shirts for the warm mornings but also make sure u bring some jackets etc.
Enjoy your trip

It's pleasant that you are a professional vacationer! Many physicians are ignorant of meals regulations in exact locations of the sector. Check w the Egyptian embassy or perhaps a journey company of what meals/beverage units you will have to be worried of. Be conscious of the cultural variations and the way this could influence your pressure degree and being pregnant. I was once startled via the volume of concentration I acquired via men while I was once in Egypt and the way vocal they have been approximately pursuing me. Just anything to suppose approximately - revel in your go back and forth!

You are planning a trip; to one of the most densely populate section of land on earth. You will be putting yourself and child in great danger.
Never the less it will be one of the most exciting adventures you will ever have in your entire life. The thing you will see and do will be your memories forever and cannot be taken away from you.
That being said, health standards there do not come up to western standards.
Since I have never been pregnant, and I do not know your health condition, and how good a shape your are in, it hard to give you a definitive answer.
At the very least, you will be on your feet a lot. Almost everything worth seeing requires walking, lots of walking. At six months that may cause many problems.
But it up to you, and what you feel you can do.
