I really like the name Kai for a boy. Some names just have the right sound.
My youngest sister named her 4 year old daughter Kaia. Said Ka-yah. She said it was Hawiian for 'From the Water', makes sense to me.
When I first heard it, I was sure I would never like it. But the minute I saw Kaia (I was in the delivery room) I knew it was the right name, can't imagine her being called anything else now. All my neices (3) and nephew have more unique names. I guess, I'm used to it now (Zoe, Kaia, Sydney, Avery).
The only thing she had to contend with were people asking how to spell it. But the spelling doesn't really help much since it's all vowels. Younger hipper people get it, people over 50 don't so much. Oh well....

It is a wonderful name for a boy! I'm expecting our third child. I heard a mother calling her son Kai and I thought that was such a cute name. My husband liked it at first but after awhile he started not liking it. So, we're not going to go with it. But it is a really nice name.

I know a 3 year old boy named Kiy and one called Jy. I think that all names are gonna be used to pick on kids. You need to choose something that you and the father of the baby are happy with and one that suits your baby. Good Luck and I hope all goes well with your baby.

Be careful with boys' names. Boys are a lot meaner to each other when they're young about weird-sounding names. Girls can be mean, but generally it's accepted that girls can have odd names, so it usually passes. But with boys the whole name thing can really be an issue. So I would avoid being too original with a boy's name. And it sounds too much like Koi and everyone is always going to think that it is Koi.

It's a great name and much better than dumb celebrities hand out. The only time I have heard it before, was Kai Winding, a really good jazz trombonist who I believe came from Scandinavia.

as quickly as I study the question, and say KAI - I at present theory female yet as quickly as I study further and observed KYE i assumed boy. i think of it incredibly is a type of names that it incredibly relies upon on the spelling. KYE seems masculine...very almost like Kyle.... yet KAI seems extra female, like a incredibly Hawiian be conscious or the initiating of a woman's call like Kaitlyn (my call)

I love it! It sounds great, both for a young boy and for when he is older! Do you have a middle name to go with it?
