I'm assuming you are trying to replace or repair it.

First shut the valve off on the water supply line. It should be on the left side usually close to the floor. If it does not have one then I would suggest you call a plumber. With the water shut off flush the toilet and hold the lever down so as much of the water drains out as possible. The take the tank lid off (gets rid of a little weight and you may be able to dip more water out also). Then disconnect the supply line from the toilet. An adjustable (Crescent) wrench will work for this. Then on the base on both sides of the toilet will be two bolts (they may be covered with plastic caps that will pop off using a flat screwdriver) Then take the bolts loose. Now you need to get a large heavy duty trash bag (a helper would be a good thing to have now) Now lift the toilet up keeping it as level as possible and slip the trash bag over the bottom. It may feel stuck when you first go to lift it. That will be the wax ring seal that is put between the toilet and drain pipe below it. Just wiggle it and it will come up. After it is up and the bag is on it do whatever you want with it. Be sure to take a putty knife or some other type of scraper and clean off the old wax ring.

I usually just crank up some AC/DC (or Van Halen) and lay into it with a sledge hammer and keep swinging until there's nothing left but a hole in the floor and a buch of porcelian shards. Then I tidy things up with a vacuum cleaner. Works like a charm! It's quite cathartic really. It's even more fun when you forget to shut the water off beforehand.

First make sure you turn the water off, then drain it ,then unscrew the supply line, then remove the nuts on the two bolts at the floor, then wiggle it until its lose, and then there ya go.
