Could it be that you are hiding behind the fact that your are dyslexic and that you really do not care about grammar full stop.

Not being mean here but merely trying to point out that grammar is important and more so as you are dyslexic. You will need all the kudos you can get which will help you to get on in life. I mean if you can get to gribs with your spelling and grammar you will get there in the end.

Good luck and all the very best for the future.

I will admit that there was a time when misspelling got on my bloody nerves until It was pointed out to me that some people are dyslexic and can't help it, I never mention the spelling any more and I agree with you 100% about the red pen. I now have a life and trivial things don't bother me no more.

Ponder1,

Don't waste your hate on the "higher value people", instead I suggest you pity them. These are people who are compelled to be perfect, and since that is impossible they are doomed to fail. That makes them feel inadequate so they turn on others that they judge to be "worse". This makes them feel better about their inadequacies.

Don't buy into their drama. I know it is difficult to not become annoyed at certain behaviors perpetuated by others. It is easier to laugh at them if you recognize that their behavior has much more to do with what is going on in their own head than it does with anything having to do with you.

“To sit in judgment of those things which you perceive to be wrong or imperfect is to be one more person who is part of judgment, evil or imperfection.” -Wayne Dyer

I agree that I will not answer a question I do not understand. However, that would be true regardless of the reason (poor spelling, foreign language, or too many acronyms). If I cannot comprehend the question, then how can I answer it.

BTW - I used to be one of those 'perfectionists', but I got over it. Thank goodness.

If I see a mistake or typo I fix it ( or should I say I used to fix it ).
With Firefox 2 it spell checks as you type ( a bit like MS Word )
which is nice.

I try to get grammar right but as this is a multinational forum what I think is right may not be true for others so I don't fixate on it!

Yeah well, the thing is, sometimes it's difficult to understand the question when someone's grammar is really bad-and that's totally different from spelling, by the way. Dyslexic are you? I notice you haven't made one spelling mistake or grammatical error in your question. Everyone has the potential to be corrected, so learn to take constructive criticism when it comes your way.

My spelling is and always has been horrendous, so I use the spell checker. Sometimes the questioner's grammar and or spelling is so bad I just cannot understand the question. I love spellcheckers as they give me the confidence to try spelling and I now find I am getting better.

The spelling isn't necessarily the issue, it's more about grammer and punctuation which is so poor that the question is more or less nonsensical and therefore difficult to decipher.

Also there is no such thing as dyslexia, it is merely people who can't spell blaming it on a condition rather than just saying I can't spell.
Similar to Attention Deficit Disorder, which parents of uncontrollable kids use as an excuse for their badly behaved offspring.

Some people feel more Superior to correct people on their spelling errors or typos....

I say B*gger that life's too short...

Although admittedly all this text talk is getting a bit too unnecessary!!!!

And as for RRM's Comment............. You are an imbecile.... Dyslexia is a diagnosed medical condition as is ADD. Before you voice your absurd accusations on Medical Conditions I suggest you spend your time wisely and read up on the conditions you are slandering and which you obviously know nothing about....

It's not so much the spelling that irritates me, it's the use of text language or whatever you want to call it. Most of the words that they use are just as many letters as it is to spell correctly - ie gyrls instead of girls. What is the point of that? I thought it was so that the typing process was quicker. It must take just as long for them to think of how to spell it incorrectly as it does to do it correctly.

Don't you worry about your grammar. From the above question it looks mighty fine to me!

Though I am not one of those who split hair over spellings and grammar(I subscribe to the "idea is need" principle, i.e. once I get your idea, no problem), it should be noted, however, that bad spellings and grammar could lead to ambiguity or complete loss of communication in some cases.
