Mine lived to be 17 before his joints started giving out, his hearing went first at 15, then the eyes started to go but never got too bad. Finally I had to put him down because of joint pain. I figured he was such a good friend, he deserved me to be unselfish enough to let him go when he hurt too much.

It just depends on the Rott... I have had 3 so far, and one we lost about 2 years ago lived to be 18, till he got joint Cancer... He lived with the cancer comfortably for about a year with the help of acupuncture and anti-inflammatory shots once ever 3 weeks at the vets, but it finally spread from his shoulder into his neck and paralyzed him, so we had to put him down.
I have 2 now and they are 6 and 7 years old... As long as they are healthy and get regular exercise and good food (not a lot of junk like table scraps) they can live very long... I do know my 7 year old rott has hip displasha, and we are helping her now with supplements for her joints and we keep her active, so she dues not feel it like she would bad if she did not get the activate.

They are known for getting problems with there Joints and cancer with age.

Hope this helps

Most larger dog only have a life span of about 12yrs. In the case of Rottweilers they tend only to live to the age of 8 or 9yrs, but there are often exceptions to the rules. Generally dogs age 7yrs to every 1of our years.

I am not sure, I would guess 10 years old, the larger the dog, the shorter the life span, I heard a Deerhounds life span is 7, whereas a Chihuahua could be about 15, hope this helps
