Janet Evanovich - she's not what you'd define as traditional chic lit, but she's laugh out loud funny.
Fiona Walker - the new Jilly Cooper.
Melissa Nathan - wonderful, well-rounded characters, more thoughtful than you'd expect.
Jennifer Crusie - cheesy, but very funny.
Anna Maxted - not light-hearted and can be intense.
Marian Keyes - the queen of the genre - funny, intense, emotional, intelligent.

Helen Fielding who wrote the Bridget Jones books. I liked them because I could relate. There was a lot of humor - this was one of the few times a book made me laugh out loud. I appreciate that Bridget was very flawed. Who wants to read about some beautiful woman with money searching for love?

I love Marian Keyes. She write very funny stories, and you really find yourself getting involved with the characters.
My favourite is 'Anybody Out There' closely followed by 'Rachel's Holiday'.
See link below to her website.
