I know!!! The questions i ask tend to have a straightforward answer to them, as opposed to a certain prejudice hiding behind them - they always vote for someone who makes a response as equally or more prejudiced than their own. People who ask these questions are seeking validation - perhaps they have been told that their view is "wrong", "racist" or "irresponsible" by someone they know and so they seek out a ton of like minded strangers to make them feel better, it's frustrating as I often give really detailed answers to these questions but as it conflicts with the askers ideology i never get 'Best Answer'

What's the point of asking a question if you only want to hear your thoughts echoed back? lol sorry couln't help myself!
sometimes you just wanna hear what others have to say.also,it makes you feel a bit better if someone else is feeling the same way

i am right with you on this one....any body that offers advice and doesn't agree with the question that has been asked seems to get a ten point violation....whats the point of asking a question if you don't want a true answer....we all don't go around with rose coloured glasses on ....some answer might not be what you want to hear ...the truth sometimes hurt...but if you don't want our opinion then don't ask the question in the first place....

I'm interested in knowing how other people think whether they are agreeing with me or not. Perhaps they might see things differently for reasons I may have not previously considered enabling me to reevaluate my perspective. Unfortunately, as it has been mentioned, some folks are really attached to their own opinions to such a degree that they feel threatened or become angry when confronted with ideas not congruous with their own.

I agree,
It's very annoying when someone posts a hum dinger of a problem...one brought on by bad judgment and then is a bit
perturbed when people tell that person to accept responsibility for their bad judgment and actions

Just because I know the answer doesn't mean that I have the confidence to make a decision based on that answer. maybe knowing that I'm not the only one to see it that way will give me that boost of confidence to proceed. Its called a reality check.

Well, this is the point - looking for like-minded, but I also think there should be more to asking a question than this :)

Same point as answering a question when you only want to hear yourself talk. The two phases of this ask/answer process enable each other.

I have a family member who will email us with new pics and say do you like this picture? And she is wanting to put it on her webpage. If we DON'T like them, then she gets all freaked out and says "what's wrong with it?". How come, what did I do wrong" all defensively.

so I've learned to just say "yes, it's nice" or "not bad" LOL.
