2 days - too short a visit to experience Singapore, which has much to offer. Suggest you enquire about a city tour at your hotel - you'll cover most tourist attractions within the day, great when you have not much time in hand. Rest of the evening and the next day, go free and easy and cover what you missed out. Boat Quay/Clarke Quay for eating and dining. Orchard Road/Marina Square for shopping. Little India/Chinatown for a taste of the different cultures. Food courts found in most shopping centers for their great selection of food. Enjoy :-)

I stopped by Singapore for about five days two years ago during the spring. Like others who've answered your question, the Night Safari is well worth your time and a fantastic experience (the Singapore Zoo is one of the world's best when it comes to animal habitat). Orchard Road is very nice for strolling and shopping; you can also check out the Esplanade and Merlion (very close by each other). There is also Sultan's Mosque nearby Arab Street (I'm not sure if that's the name of the area, but it's distinct from other areas).

The metro/subway system is very convenient and efficient, so you should be able to see quite a few places in two days. I personally don't recommend Chinatown-- it is a bit run down and old compared to other parts of Singapore-- though the streets of Little India is worth a visit.

I suppose Night Safari is a good choice. Other than that, you can buy a train ticket, stop at Raffles Place MRT, which also happens to be the Central Business District of Singapore. Walk your way to Victoria Theatre and you'll see the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles, cross the road over to the One Fullerton side, you'll get to see the Merlion. Walk along the pathway, you'll reach the Esplanade (the 'durian' as it's called by many). From the esplanade, take the underpath and go towards suntec city, Fountain of wealth. The 5 towers and the fountain right in the middle sybolises holding wealth in the palm of your hands.

From suntec city, you can either take a train to Bugis, which is only one station away. Suntec City is at Cityhall MRT station. There are many shops at Bugis Village, good for shopping and bargains.

You don't have to worry about food. They are easily accessible at any well populated corner of Singapore.

A day at Sentosa Island if you like beach. Shoppings at Orchard Road, City hall & Bugis, stop by at Little India for a unique shopping & food. In the evening, Night Safari might be a good choice. Other than that, almost every MRT stops has a shopping mall. Jurong bird park could be an option.

I went on a walking tour in Singapore which was by far the highlight of my stay. The tour that I attended was of Chinatown's red light district which was quite interesting. They also offer walking tours of Little India, the Colonial district, etc. Details can be found at http://www.singaporewalks.com/

To be honest, I found Sentosa to be rather run down and creepy, and would have rather skipped it to explore some of the more exotic offerings available. With that in mind, others with whom I was traveling thoroughly enjoyed it, so each to their own.

The Hippo Tour was no doubt the best. They have several routes, and it's a hop on hop off service. This allows you to stop and check things out, and get back on later. The guides were super friendly, and the tour fee also included an evening transfer over to sentosa island for the fireworks show, and a pass for a bumboat ride on the river. I think we paid $35 SGD (Singapore Dollars) for a 2 day pass. It was definitely worth the money. We walked up to the Suntec Centre and bought our tickets there.

Here's their website (it isn't very updated though) http://www.ducktours.com.sg/

And here's the website for Suntec City Visitor's Centre http://www.suntecreit.com/sunteccitymall...

Have fun!!

Try our Night Safari. Many animals are active at night. Many foreign visitors find it lots of fun. Chinatown is a lively place too. Lots of food at cheap prices to try. Get a foot massage while you are there. Buy a mass transit card and take a joy ride. You can go round the whole island in 2 hrs.

You can go to little india and shop in mustafa if you are going to shop. Near by there is also mink square where you can buy electronic stuff(cheaper on the higher floors). You could go to china town and also orchid street.
If you have time go to santosa island which I heard is good but never been there.
If you need more information just ask the taxi guys they can guide you.
If you want save money use the subways

The Night Safari at the zoo is well worth it, I think. Especially if you're not from a tropical country. You should also check out Chinatown and Little India.
