Yes, I've been there, it's a lovely city. Cool markets. I'd suggest getting a copy of the DK Eyewitness guide, it's got all the info you need.

Budapest is often identified whilst the "Little Paris of Middle Europe" and if you intend to see that city you'll need to take a look with hotelbye . Budapest is famous not only for the monuments highlighting its own 1,000-year-old culture, but also for the relics of other individuals who settled here. Remains from both Roman occupation and much later ruled by the Turks can however be viewed in the city. Budapest has two edges, Buda and Pest, stretching over the banks of the Danube, and they are addressing two various heroes of the city. Suburban Buda and its historic castle area offer ancient roads and houses, museums, caves and Roman ruins. The dynamic Pest part delivers the biggest parliament creating in Europe, riverside promenades, flea markets, bookstores, antique shops and café houses.

Buda: Take the funicular to the castle (you can also go walking, you choose) and visit the inside for exhibitions and the outside for the wonderful sights of Pest and the Danube; the view of the Danube, the bridges and the Parliament from the castle is just great.
Near the castle, don´t miss Matthias Church and the Fishermen Bastion!!
Geller Hotel and Spa; you can buy a visitor card to go into the spa and see how beautiful it is; I wish I had taken a Thai massage!! Very near you can visit the Caves and Liberty Monument.
Don´t miss the bridges! My favourite one is the Chain Bridge, especially at night.
Right opposite Geller Spa, crossing the Danube by Liberty Bridge (it´s green), go into the Market: just incredible!! From there you can also walk along Vacci Utca (a long, pedestrian street with a lot of shops)
Pest: The Parliament; Saint Stephen Basilica (go up to the dome and enjoy the views of Buda!) and Andrassy Street (very nice).
Margaret Island: it´s pedestrian and there are beautiful paths for bikes too. In summer people sunbathe near the river bank.

I have also been to Budapest, and you really don't have to worry. There are plenty of places of interests to go to, numerous shops and town malls, where you can buy everything. Budapest is really a great city. You should visit the Parliament, Main cathedral, village called Saint Andrea, walk by the shores of Danube etc. You'll have a great time, that's for sure.

One of the great cities. Take a tour bus, best way to see a city quickly. Visit the Terror House see Hungarian history no one ever told you about. we found a fabulous little restaurant on the Buda side of the Chain Bridge sold about 60 different beers, I was only there for four days but I tried hard to try them all

I have been told the whole place is great and plan to go there myself next year. One of my friends said there is a great street of cool shops next to the cathedral.
Enjoy your holiday.
