I think the reason why you find them so odd is because they're bold and red-colored.
Weird is the finding that wearing red increases one's testosterone level. Looking at red, I dunno, but it must mean that there's some odd effect.
Also, that the advertisement is mainly one color can be a bit eye-catching, or in this case, eye-wearying.
