It is basically belief.

Do you have belief in horoscope, astrology, palmistry, numerology, Feng Sui, Vaastu, etc., etc., If you believe these you can also believe Tarot reading also. For any of this you should get an expert in the line. Anyhow with all these many people make their livelihood.

The Tarot is very, very real, but divination (fortune-telling) is a rather minor part of its function. The far more significant part is the telling of the present, not the future. That is, reading character and offering advice on the future as a result.

The Tarot is a set of symbols that have withstood the test of time as a system of communication. There are so many things in life that cannot be entirely grasped in the written word. That's what symbols are for. The Tarot brings together an intersection of symbol systems. We call this correspondence.

There are many different versions of the Tarot, as anyone can see if you look at modern decks in a new age store. Quite a few are variations on the most familiar, the Rider-Waite. There's nothing wrong with using the deck that is most appealing artwork within this group.

Then there are quite a few that really should not be named "Tarot" at all, but which have some other system of card use.

In between are a great many decks, both older and newer, that are probably better left to those who are already familiar with the Rider-Waite or one of its derivatives.

Since ancient times man has strived to search out the unknown. His pursuit of knowledge of the future has led to the creation of many different methods of fortune telling such as astrology, numerology, I - ching, crystallomancy (reading of a crystal ball), palmistry (cheiromancy), as well as psychic readings to mention but a few. Fortune-telling is defined as the practice of predicting the future, usually of an individual, through mystical or supernatural means.
Whether they work depends on the beliefs of the person. Some people swear by it and claim success. I personally have many doubts, but am open minded enough to realise that it may well work for some people. I think it also depends on who is doing the fortune telling. Some seem to be more professional than others.

Tarot can tell us about the future, the past, and the present. It works for those that of us that believe. I know, I have done readings for myself and have been surprised by how accurate the cards can be. The first time I tried the cards, I asked about the past, about something I knew the answer to, and it was spooky to actually see the answer in the cards.

Numerology is any belief in divine, mystical or other special relationship between a number and some coinciding events. It's an occult science that I consider fascinating. I started to study numerology because of my obsession with Mathematics, Geometry. What I discovered it's really incredibble.

It can be true depending on the skill level of the reader. but most is just memorizing set answers to the cards that come up. Or telling the reader to much information before the reading. The gypsies were the ones that gave divination practices a bad name.

I believe we are all psychic, but for the majority the gift or the belief has been long knocked out of them. Educated out is another way of looking at it. Many professional psychics have grown up in a psychic friendly environment. Perhaps a grand-parent or parent with the knowledge has helped bring the extra sense out in the open and encouraged its use. But there are as many practicing psychics who have not had the benefit of caring psychic guidance and who have still managed to develop and hone this natural extra sense. The Psychic Sense.

i used to read tarot cards and it can get really spooky,it's like the cards,if you are sensitive or physic you can pick up on stuff,i did a reading for someone one night and he was being smart and really showing out and he made me mad and i laid out his cards and it wasn't a nice read, and a friend of mind knew ME well enough to know i had seen something in the cards i wasn't telling him, and she told me to tell him and i said its really bad and so he wanted to know, so i told him,i saw he was going to die if he didn't stop drinking like he was doing, in 3 days he wrapped his car around a tree and about 5 months later he died ,he was in coma all that time too, I never read again and i got saved not to long after that , there is evil in this world and we do have access to it if we let it,and it can kill us.. and others

be cynical and skeptical as there are those who are after money. did a paper on psychics for sociology class and the answers were wrong or could be taken either way according to the reader. 10 years after the class was over was still receiving ads from psychics I never heard of. they must sell your name if one answers an ad.
