Echeque is used by Paypal when you do not have a debit card registered with your account. The only thing with an Echeque is that it takes 7 days to process where as if you have a card registered the payment is immediate.

I paid by echeque once and as far as I can tell it's exactly the same as doing a transfer from your bank.

It's kind of like a check by phone.....or like if you pay your bills on line. It's through your bank account and it has to clear like a regular check before the seller can ship the item.
