To clean up these...get 2 dry clothes and a regular toothpaste. Put some toothpaste on a cloth, rub it on these jewelry and use other cloth to wipe. I saw it on tv then I tried it on my jewelry and it worked well. I hope this helps.

Are you looking for a home remedy or do you just not want to go to the jewelers. If you just want to save a trip to the jewelers then I would suggest going to your local department store jewelry department and buy a jar of liquid cleaner and a polishing cloth. These products work very well at cleaning and removing grime and body oils and dirt from your jewelry and gemstones. Some gemstones should never be cleaned with any chemicals ever and a polishing cloth is recommended for these. Pearls, Opals, and especially Emeralds should never be cleaned with any cleaner including home remedies, just wipe the metal portion with the polishing cloth. A lot of toothpaste on the market today is abrasive and has whitening ingredients that are especially harmful to your gemstones. Rinse Diamonds in hot (not boiling) water, this makes them sparkle more but don't do this to jewelry that has other stones with diamonds in the setting. Always dry your jewelry with a 100% cotton lint free cloth. They sell silver polishing cloths that will remove light tarnish. I buy the cleaner that is made for gold and the cloth that is made for silver. The cleaner will clean gold and silver, and the cloth will polish both of them equally well.

Tooth paste and brush work quite nicely. Then, of course rinse with water. I never tryed the gel type so I don't know if it works.
