that is no best anti-virus software. everything is relative comparision. in my opinion, a good anti-virus programme must have that functions below:
1. effective in protecting your computer from not only known viruses but also unknown viruses. it can discover new viruses and automatically block or disinfect them, dont allow them to destroy your computer. bitdefender, kaspersky, tren-micro, f-secure, norton, mcafee all have this function
2. consume less memory. yes, you will not run any other programme when u use the anti-virus that consumes alot of your system memory and slow down your computer. norton 2006 and mcafee 2007 are to heavy and eat too much system memory. bitdefender and karspersky are good choice for that
3. quickly update: of course, the quicker the better, if one new virus appears and after one hour, bidefender already has update for that virus, meanwhile, macafee after one day, and norton after one week. compare.
i think the most 3 important things above are somewhat enough for you to consider which is the best for you. personally, i choose bidefender and karspersky. they are the same

AVAST is sturdy and its loose like AVG loose. i exploit the two. I even have AVG on one in each and every of my XP machines and Avast on my laptop. For spyware removing, i exploit Adaware 2007 and Spybot seek and wreck a million.4 If i'm engaged on some ones computing device and it has a severe an infection, i exploit spyware medical expert and Pest Patrol. you additionally can get a loose on line test from vogue abode Calls. i do no longer care a lot for Norton anymore. considering the fact that Taken over by capacity of Symantic they have long gone down hill. Use to a lot reminiscence and too no longer common to resume sub. bill

I use Norton. Sure, I paid $60 for it (Norton Systemworks), but it's way more than just antivirus, it's saved me from a lot of issues that I never would have figured out on my own. Problems that I would have had to pay a computer shop some serious money for. Go with Norton man :) Get it at WalMart, Staples, or wherever computer software is sold.

Get Kaspersky or Norton Internet Security. They both do a great job of blocking virus, spyware. adware, banner ads and popups. Norton is a little better with the popups.

it would be kaspersky anti virus.... low usage of system resources.. easy to learn interface... good scan speed... catches lot of malwares.... norton or mcafee makes your computer boot slow and eats a lot of system resources making your pc slow... and they always show pop ups that are somehow irritating... so i suggest kaspersky..... :)

ok try all above antivirus, and when it failed to your expectations, then try ANTIVIR. I'm using this for more than 6 years...
But antivirus alone is not enough nowadays, you need also anti-spy and firewall.
