I never put my real birthdate or any other personal info to enter a site. Is that being overly paranoid?

Not in my opinion, with all the computer techies out there, I feel any personal information can be confiscated. If gov`t files can be broken into, then I`m sure my personal data can also be illegally obtained. In fact, my nephew seeking his step-sister, easily found not only her address but her phone number, just by typing in her name. Same holds true for credit card #`s, unless the site is secure and with a well know company, I hesitate going that route to purchase from the internet.
