Monkeys have opposable thumbs, meaning they can touch the top of their thumb against the top of their fingers, thus making holding things much easier.

They don't have retractable thumbs. That would mean that they could pull their thumbs back into their hands, like the comic character Wolverine does with his claws and like cats do with their claws.

by 'retractable' do you mean 'opposable'? I don't think rectractable thumbs exist- on this planet, at least.
