Actually there is some evidence for chicken soup but home made, use a whole chicken as many minerals are leeched out of the bones. Use thyme and garlic and onions all help drink only the broth as it is easy to digest allowing your body to focus it's energies on fighting the flu. Fasting is a good way to fight disease. Many people lose their appetite when sick and you can tell they are better because they are hungry again.
Your body cleanses itself of toxins when you are fasting.
Stop eating but take vitamin c and drink lots of fluids or just have the chicken broth.

The most important thing is to go home and rest the first day, you have a very good chance of beating the flu in a shorter period of time if you let your body fight it when it is strongest and the virus is weakest. Most people go to work or school anyway when they know they are getting sick. This makes the flu last much longer as the virus has a better chance of getting a good foothold on your body if you don't rest until it is too late.

Drink herbal tea untill you stop vomiting. It's a natural antacid and is easier on your stomach than water. If you haven't vomited in a day, have some saltine crackers with your tea. If you keep that down, move up to dry toast. Finally, have chicken soup. Once you can keep down chicken soup, you're home free and the flu will go away really fast.

Prevention.
Hand washing, avoiding sick folks, eating and sleeping right, and taking vitamins are all good.
Skip the vaccine. While other vaccines save lives, the Flu vaccine is pointless. It only protects you from 3 different viruses, and there are several million strains of the flu. Plus, these viruses are famous for their ability to mutate making the vaccines obsolete and you get sick anyway.

Time, rest, and lots of fluids. Chicken soup is good because the fats and salts help restore the electrolytes lost through vomitting and sweating. Keep your fever down by taking aspirin, if you are an adult. Some fever is necessary as the virus is being dealt with by the immune system. Avoid sweets because sugar may increase your fever as the sugar is metabolized.

Sambucol, an elderberry extract, has anti-viral
properties. I use Oscillococcinum at the first sign of flu and I've not gotten a bad case for years. I, too, use ginger tea with lemon and honey.

Get better soon!
