I think on it's own now, your scores are already quite excellent. However, considering the fact that you are POSITIVE you will get a higher math score, perhaps it would be worthwhile to spend another four hours to push your score up even higher. Will you be able to achieve perfect scores in your Critical Reading and Writing section again? If not, just stick with your score now.
I'm wondering whether the colleges you're applying to only take the highest scores, or if they only look at the most recent test score.
Perhaps you should explain in your application that your intended major is journalism, and not math-related.

It's definitely worth retaking the SAT if you want to get into a top engineering/science school like CalTech, Stanford, MIT ... but for journalism? No, you don't need to take it again to get into Columbia or U of Missouri J-schools. Relax. Heck, you could even flunk the SAT and become a star on right-wing talk radio or Faux News. Source: I'm a retired journalist with a son who aced the SAT and went to CalTech and Harvard.

it depends on the school. journalism... looking at northwestern?
regardless, if you get good grades in math, especially in high-level math, and take the math SAT II and do well, i wouldn't bother retaking the entire SAT unless you really feel like it. it seems pretty clear that you know your stuff, and you likely have better things to worry about.
if you're a junior now, go ahead and retake it when the rest of your class takes it. if you're a senior, i probably wouldn't. SATs don't matter nearly as much as your transcript, and if you're looking into journalism, as your essays.

I think that this is a good schore for math since you aren't going to be a math major. If you want a better score, retake the exam. It wouldn't hurt only the higher scores count.

ok, so first issues first... what's your GPA? Do you play activities? Are you in school performs? and so on. in case you do, that will advance your probabilities of shifting into. additionally, attempt to get your grades up greater. in any different case, user-friendly certainty is, you will no longer stand a raffle till you gain this. As for the SAT scores, objective for a 1900 mixed score. or you stand little risk that they'll settle for you. whilst it comes time to coach, prepare early action, with the aid of fact you have a greater physically powerful risk (as quickly as greater,) of shifting into. Do properly on the interview. As for convalescing your score, I advise you get a private prepare, and paintings your *** off this summer season. wish this helps!!! stable success!!!
