Need to find a recent and interesting topic in macroeconomics that I can write about, but will also keep my class from falling asleep (have to present it), any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Teach them something that has some effect of your students everyday life.

Demonstrate who is benefiting from the recent GDP growth. Is the nation benefiting as a whole from the current expanding economy or the recent growth being horded by a single class of people at the expense of others. Either way what policies allowed this to happen. How does this effect the graduating class of 2007?

OR

Demonstrate the recent public policy to allow Big Oil Companies to merge has created a monopolize cartel which is reducing its own refinery capacity to create artificial shortages in supply. This event results in choking major economic sectors while earning the Oil Industry record profits by providing less to the marketplace. Which cause your students to pay more at the pump. What role has government played in this matter?

A survey of the labor market, identify which jobs and fields expect the most and the least job growth, and how it is expected to effect wages. Use actual data on wages.
