"humiliation of peeing in a cup"???? how's that humiliating? If you pass, you get so much more money than the druggies get from the government.
If the dopeheads are addicted, how will they stop without money to get themselves clean? In the current system, they dopeheads use some of the money to stay alive and some to buy drugs. This way, they'll still die, but they'll die more humanely than druggies without any money who have to resort to lots of crimes to survive.

Don't worry. The Federal Government had to borrow $620 billion, last year, just to make ends meet. At that rate, we'll soon reach the point at which no one will lend the Government any more money. So it'll have to trim back its operations.
$620 billion is such a huge amount of money that almost the entire Executive Branch will have to be shut down, in order to pay for it. That includes the more than $1 billion budget of the Drug Enforcement Agency. When the USA is finally bankrupt (and believe me, that day is fast approaching), the War on Drugs will be over.

It's hard to write laws for such situations, I think drug enforcement should be relative to the responsibility of the job.
If you want to work in a toll booth or mop floors, hey... I don't see a problem with you knocking yourself unconscious with drugs. But if you are a surgeon, or fly an airplane or if you're in the military, well... I think you should have to pee in a cup from time to time.
I feel the same way about gun control. If you live in the country, have all the guns you want - chances are there aren't too many people around to accidently hit. If you live in the city... I think it should be more restricted. More people just means a better chance that one of 'em is off his rocker.

Interesting concept. It is our tax dollars and some would argue that we should have a say in how they are spent...
Someone mentioned legalization doing away with the need for testing, jokingly I hope. Still have to test - it's a safety and quality control thing. You want somebody that's high or tripping making the products you rely on every day? Or giving you medical care or enforcing other laws, fighting fires, and any number of other jobs?

That's a really interesting and valid point. I think I agree, and in the long run, see that if we make being drug-free a requirement for those who receive welfare, it will enable those people to have more of a reason to get or keep clean (for the ones who are not) and thus in the long run cut down on the overall need for welfare.
Nice point!

I'm with you even though I think you are an idiot! I drive a semi-truck and need to be straight so I don't kill people! I make a great living and don't need any drugs to do it. I pee in a cup once or twice a month and it doesn't bother me, I think that the ones it bothers is the ones that have something to hide.Oh by the way. you should really learn how to spell.

You would have to support them by putting them in jail or by hoping they get a job and change. I don't think what you propose is not a good idea at all.
I think you want to create a place where you can drive around and see people suffering for your self gratification. Some how you think you are perfect and people suffering remind you that constantly.

BYAHHH!!!! I couldn't agree more!!!! Welfare recipients should have to face mandatory urinalysis not only for illegal drugs but prescriptions AND booze. If they fail the test, they are placed into mandatory detox for thirty days (kind of like what they used to do with junkies back in the fourties- "The Lexington Law"). And these are random tests, monthly.

Just do the pee test and hand over the cup with your chin up, stating that your pee is cleaner than a lot of politicians. (It's a fact that cocaine is sniffed widely in higher positions.)
