Also i was born 3 months premature when i was a baby and i only weighed 1lb. 11 oz. so could this account for my slower growth rate?

You have a great chance of outgrowing not only your Mom, but your Dad as well! You're probably one of the many boys that take a long and rapid growth spurt later in adolescence. Girls tend to sprout up earlier than boys, but stop growing earlier, so don't worry too much about your little sister. She'll be eating your dust soon enough. You'll keep growing until you're about 21, so there's lots of time. It looks like height is part of the genetic makeup of your whole family, so unless your Mom has a secret that involves a rather short door-to-door salesman, you've got nothing to worry about, and everything to look forward to.

Yes, most kids do outgrow their parents.
Why worry? You are a good height, that's what I am! You will keep grown until you are 20 though you have like 4 or 5 more years of growth. Just take your vitamins, get plenty of rest, exercise and water!

Guys grow at slower rates than girls so that's why your younger sister would be taller than you now. I don't know about premies and growth, but I doubt that affects it! Your genetic code is given to you at conception, and while you grow into a fetus. Not afterward. I doubt height is affected when borna bit early.

I would work on self esteem. Look at Tom Cruise, he had problems in school I think he was in special ed and people made fun of him. He is short, but he gets pretty girls, is very successful and is happy, right? It's all in your mind. Women will think you're sexy if you think you're sexy too. Don't worry about it anymore, it doesn't do you any good only makes you get anxiety/cortisol problems!

Hunny my name is Vickie and I was the shortest in my family. Until I turned 16 and discovered I that people grow at different ages, rates, for different lenghts of time

My father is 5'-10" My biological Mother is 6', my stepmother is 5'3.5" at 16 i was 5'-3" my younger sister was 13 and 5'-8.5" and had been taller then me by 8 tall than our stepmom around 9.5 maybe 10. by 11 she was taller then her bio mom by half an inch at 5'-6".

So belive me sweetie I know how bad it sucks to have to look up to your lil sister I even had to watch her breast start developing the spring when mine should have like all my friends.and when summer hit and I had all my friends over for a pool party the brat had mom help her crash my party and my friends who teased me that my lil sister was taller then me were shocked to find out she had grown taller( then everyone at the pool), She heard someone ask me how tall she was under there breath and she proudly answered 5'-7" and she paused and sized up all the girls and smiled as she said "I bet I am the tallest girl here and I can see I am the biggest!" as she let her robe fall ,,,, and she was right her boobs were bigger then every girls there and my life was a nightmare,,

Until I turned 16 and hit a late large growth spurt makeing me a "latebloomer" by summer I had bigger boobs then my sister and shortly after I turned 17 nearly 6' and now just a few months from my 18th b-day and I am over 6'-2"

the really good news for you my friend and the reason i bet u will be taller then mom soon is boys grow a lil later then girls usually about 16 so chances are you maybe be taller then mom before you know it

Boys tend to get their growth spurts later than girls. I stopped growing by 14 years old and I am 5'7" which is short for my family. My uncle grew till he was 24 and he is 6'3". I would not give up hope until you are in your early 20's. Judging from your parents heights, you should make at least 6'.

Yes, it's possible. One of my brothers is now the tallest in our family. He's 16 now, and he's just been growing like a weed for some time now. My parents are average (5' 6"), my dad being shorter for a guy. My brother (youngest one) is now 5' 10 1/2"! He's got all of us beat!

since you are 16, you should get taller. at least you're taller than my 18 yr old daughter who has quit growing and is shorter than me (her mom). I'm 5'2 1/2" and my daughter is 4'11" and has been the same height for the last 2 years. she won't get any taller, but you most likely will. Boys grow longer then women do and you aren't done growing yet.

each and all the lads in my relatives are the comparable top or taller than their mothers and fathers. and that i haven't any thought what the popular heights are for the countless areas. i'm Cantonese and my cousins are like 6'0 yet a number of my Cantonese guy acquaintances are in basic terms like 5'6.

Wow- that's a tough question. In a family of giants, you're the "normal" height one, in my opinion. Keep stretching, make sure you're getting enough calcium, keep a good posture, and even if you don't surpass your mom by height, you'll still be fine. And I mean, like super fine. ;)

If you doubt your height then do something yourself for its growth like- intaking proteins & calcium in proper quantities as well as exercises like skipping, swimming, basketball etc.
