welcome to Calgary
I would recommend taking C-Train and go downtown....walk in 8th avenue which is the most amazing street in that area where you can see a lot of attraction. Also you can enjoy the river.
Go north west of the city and see Market Mall which is the biggest mall in the city. Go south east and see Chinook center.
go North east to Sunridge center. There are a lot of great places in the city. ....Please feel free to contact me for any information about Calgary.

Go downtown on a weekday around lunch time to see all the office workers! Go up the Calgary Tower for panoramic city views. Check out the zoo. 17th Ave SW is a funky shopping street that also has lots of cute bars. Kensington (the area around the Sunnyside station) is also good for little coffeehouses and boutiques.

When I moved to Seattle, WA from LA, California, I would just drive around and purposely get lost. That way I could find my way home. It was an adventure for sure. As long as I kept my bearings on where the main freeways were, I did just fine. Then in time, I could go anywhere and feel at home.

Get out and ride the buses, walk and talk to locals. Join a walking group or bike group and explore by wheel.

Get on the CTrain and buses, great system. Too bad it wasn't summer and you could just go walking.
