I live in Bulgaria, but I'm English and I would like to do a GCSE in Bulgarian. Can anyone advise me where i can find out about this and where I can get past papers. Is there any age limits on taking a GCSE? My kids are now bilingual and it might be worth their while doing one too, but they are under 16.

I did a web search "gcse bulgarian language" and came up with this;
http://www.bghelp.co.uk/forums/archive/index.php/t-6883.html
but I can't read it because it's in, I assume, Bulgarian! Maybe you can make sense of it.

There didn't seem to be anything else. I also did a search for gcse Turkish language (my situation is similar to yours but I live in Turkey) and got better results. The exam board for Turkish is Oxford Cambridge and RSA so maybe if you get in touch with them you can establish whether or not there is an exam in Bulgarian.

Sorry not to have been of more help, if I find anything more, I'll add to this.

There's a list of community language examinations here, but no Bulgarian. I fear it doesn't exist.

I guess you would not be able to get a GCSE in Bulgarian, as this is a UK certificate. You can, however, try to look for a certificate which will give you the same rights a GCSE would.
Depending on what you need - study Bulgarian, certify what you already know or both, you could try various options. This site might give you the answer:
http://www.euro-languages.net/bulgaria/index.php?action=Training&lang=eng
They seem to issue cerificates which should be valid for the Bulgarian authorities and also anywhere else in Europe.
You could also try to enquire at your local Regional Inspectorat of Education (Регионален инспекторат по образованието).
Good luck :)
С най-добри пожелания:)

There may not be one, or possibly an International GCSE.
Try contacting Edexcel, AQA or Cambridge Exam boards.
