Why do Americans constantly refer to the British as being their cousins? I don't recall having any family stupid enough to qualify to live there.

trust me, we dont want to be associated with the americans.
i dont know anyone who would want to refer to the americans as our cousins - just a jumped up, power hunger full of themselves country full idiots who want the rest of the world to bow down to them.

4.9 million Scottish
4.3 million (though estimates suggest 27.3 million) Scots-Irish (Ulster)
1.7 million Welsh
1 million British (answered "British" as ancestry on the Census)
These figures make British Americans one of the largest "ethnic" groups in the U.S. when counted collectively (although the Census Bureau does not count them collectively, as each of the above is a separate ethnic group, that is English or Scottish or Welsh or Scots-Irish). The Germans and Hispanic are the largest self-reported ethnic groups in the nation

the americans are originally from the uk..but since it's been a long time,they have change they ways..not like UK people

When an American comes over here to look up their ancestors, tell them "I am sorry, but they died three hundred years ago."
Hubby worked in London and had a Yank ask him the way to Lester Shire Square. He sent them on the Docklands Light Railway.

well i certanly dont call americans,cousins i woudnt dream of it ,i also dont have any family stupid enough to qualify living there too ,so my love it does work both ways doesnt it

I certinly don't have any American cousins. Please note that we British never ever call the Americans our cousins.
