Has so much changed since 2004 in 2006 that we didn't realize was happening in 2004? Why did it take so long for most of the public to finally WAKE UP!!!

What has really happened in the past 2 years that served as the final "wake up" call? Just the continuation of nothing positive, or something specific?

In 2004 the war was still somewhat new, only about 18 months into it. There was still hope then that things would turn out OK. Hindsight now allows most people to see that this is a unwinnable situation in Iraq. Rightly, we blame those who brought the current situation into our lives. Andrew Sullivan said it best, " this is not so much an election, as an intervention". The American people are going to tell the President next tuesday, wrap this Iraq thing up.....NOW.

So if someone else gets in and things start going down-hill, will you be saying the same thing? Why do people think that someone else is going to perform a miracle?? People may hate me for this but I feel, under all the circumstances that he had to deal with these past couple years, I still feel he's doing the best he can and I don't think having someone else in office is going to make that much of a difference. Our country has gone through ALOT these past 5 years and I really would like to know how anyone intends to do any better. Any miracle-workers out there?

Speaking of wake up calls,

When the terrorists destroy our nation, and we lose faith in our government to protect/allow us to live. That's when the wake up call button will be pushed, and thankfully bush has been pushing it everyday he is in office.

Democrats fail to realize there won't be an health benefits, or an economy to worry about when we lose our major cities, and thousands upon thousands of americans to death. If you feel we are over there for oil, you need to push that button. This isin't one man we are fighiting, it's an entrenched mentality, and america is so poloarized and ignorant we will never understand that we will fall completely if we dont go after these guys.

You can take the democrats approach, and not wiretap to prevent the death of america, or you can understand that this is a serious war, and our own exsistence depends on it.

The answer is quite simple, they are brainwashed with the idea that America is doing great, and they think that Bush is the greatest president ever so there you have it. They approve of U.S. men being killed, held hostage, and are real big on waisting money over there for nothing! This war has run out of purpose, so therefore we are just over there fighting for a lost cause. You would think that all U.S. citizens would think that is bad, but there are the war fans out there that are enjoying the show.

no,it just took the media this long to fill peoples heads full of crap, and every gullible person that don't have enough sense to talk to a soldier or someone that actually knows whats going on,the people here in the US are being brain washed by the media and whats coming from the soldiers is totally different, and if you noticed you don't see any of them being interview on CNN or any other news network about how its going ,because the media don't want you to know they want you to think its all falling a part and you're not listening to the president, hes telling the truth but no one listen, ask a soldier...ask

People finally realized that criticizing the President is neither unpatriotic nor traitorous. It is our duty as citizens in a democracy and we finally stopped being afraid.

That's one of the misfortunate things about the average person really in any country... most ppl are busy with their lives and don't 'see' reality until they are literally bombarded with unquestionable facts.

IE, so many American deaths in Iraq.
IE, they want to believe it when they are told the economy is doing great but after so many watch their friends or themselves lose work, it finally hits them they are being lied to.
IE, getting sick and not having health insurance... resulting in large debt.

Things like that... when ppl begin to 'feel' the negative they finally wake up.

Credit that to tons of money being spent on public relations for the republicans and the denials of the christian right.
