I have two female swords one is pregnant and the other just gave birth. I also have another fish which I was told is a sword but she just aint interested in the males. Im starting to wonder if she is a sword? The pet shop has swords, mollies and platys all in together and I cant tell the difference!!! Can someone please help me???

The swords are the different colors, but they have a more slinder body, where the mollies have a more chubby like body. The mollies will get about twice the size of the sword. Mollies are also more aggressive than the sword. Platys are very thin like, and most of them have shorter tails than the mollies and the swords.

As mentioned above, sword tale males have the sword shaped tail (hence the name), mollies are black, white, or spotted. Mollies also tend to be very fat or roundish in shape versus the sword tail that is relatively skinny. If you are asking because a bunch of baby fish are swimming in your tank, unfortunately both the sword tails and the mollies are live bearing (vs egg laying) so you may just have to wait a couple weeks to see how they start to take form and begin to get color.

mollies and platys alike come in several colors but the sword tail will have a sword coming out of under belly fin hints the name and will only breed with other sword tails she just might need more time she maybe younger than the others and not sexually mature as long as shes active and healthy i would just give her some more time!! sword tails have a long tail like a sword blade hence the name can be different colours but mainly orange or white Mollies are black..PLATYS DONT HAVE THE SWORD TAIL AND COME IN VARIOUS COLOURS , sword tails sometimes change sex maybe that has happened to yours
