It would depend on the rating of the movie.
In Australia it is rated M - Mature audiences; so yes a 6yr old would be allowed in to see it with an adult.
However, it looks a bit creepy for someone that age.

When I was 7 I was an avid horror fan and it never disturbed me in the least .......so no maturity may not matter but the individual child does...

Yes, with someone over 18 it is legal. Also, just to touch base on all these people saying it would be immoral. If a child's gaurdian is willing to allow that child to see an R rated movie it shouldn't make you people go up in arms about it. It is the parents choice when to expose a child to extreme or vulgar things. If a parent isn't there to explain what's going on that is when a problem arises. Instead of blindly letting a child watch what some board of executives has decided is ok (btw: i have seen plenty of questionable activities and dialogue in Looney Toons, Popeye, and several other "classic children's cartoons"). Each parent should have the determination to guide their child to know right from wrong and good from bad.

If you are talking about your own child, PLEASE do not take a child this young to see such a movie.

My 11-year-old daughter unfortunately saw some of this movie at a friend's house, and it took me over 6 months to convince her that it was ok to take a shower without me sitting in the bathroom. She just could not get those images out of her mind.

And it doesn't matter how "mature" the kid is, either. My daughter is VERY mature for her age, is in the gifted program at school, knows the difference between fact and fiction - and she was TRAUMATIZED by that movie.

Sadly yes. Why would anyone take a 6 yr old to see a rated R movie in the theaters anyways?

Sadly yes. I saw a woman bring in 3 kids, all less than 10, into Texas Chainsaw Massacre

In the US, yes. It's R rated I assume, so as long as the child was with a parent or someone over 17, they'd be able to.
