Get a picture of a train, (a good one of the Sugarland Express can be found in the December '02 issue of Train World) and draw it.

Choo Choo Buckaroo!
It hard to explain. Try a tube shape for a Locomotive with a square on back for the driver and put wheels on it. Then add a Smoke stack with some smoke coming out.
I might suggest drawing supplies; Mechanical Pencil, Ruler and Compass. Also, Office Depot sell a starter Drafting Kit maybe less than $10.
Choo Choo Buckaroo! Toot Toot! :-p

Think like a 1st grade teacher doing a bulletin board. Shapes. Rectangle with circles for wheels. A square on top for the engine cabin. My rapper name is Maintrain and I sign my emails
mt-MT-Mt
which is a caboose linked to a boxcar linked to an engine.
Rectangle with square on top and circles underneath is the engine.
You don't have to be an artist to impress a 3 year old. He wants your time more than he wants "ART". Just sit by him and draw like a child!
