Quitting smoking is a great opportunity to learn about ourselves, as you have already observed.
Congratulate yourself on having the desire to stop - then you are over the worst, but still need to maintain your resolve. It's just so easy to start thinking that just one won't hurt, but it does. Just one achieves nothing except feeling the need for another. Whatever you do, don't have just one. Beware - alcohol will weaken your resolve.
Here's a few home-brewed tips that might be useful.
It's not just nicotine addiction - there are 50+ chemicals in cigarettes. Also the main problem is habit.
We have been used to having body sensations which we translate as 'my body needs something', which we have attempted to satisfy by having a cigarette.
When we try to stop smoking, we still get these 'my body needs something' sensations, and we still feel that we want a cigarette. We have to train our body to be more selective. When we feel we need something, we have to work out what it is that we actually need.
A glass of water is an excellent substitute if nothing else comes to mind, as it helps with the clearance of the toxic substances in our body. Another good substitute is a bag of salted peanuts, used in combination with the water.
Another thing to do is to find an activity which occupies the mind or body. Go swimming - nobody wants to smoke while they are swimming. Slowly, as our body adjusts and translates the 'want something' feelings into something other than cigarettes, then the feelings begin to go away. We know its not a cigarette that the body really needs, because as soon as we've had one we still have the feeling, and want another!
We will have a few bouts of feeling or even being short tempered. We must try to bite our lip, and control; ourselves. Recognise the short temper as being the removal of toxins which are trying to find a way out. They went in through the mouth, and they try to get out that way to. We must learn to keep our mouth closed, and force the toxins out the other way.

After we have stopped for a while we will begin to feel that just one wont to any harm.
All that leads to is a desire for just another one. We must guard very strongly against the desire to have just one.

I cross to Marlins video games and it is inexpensive :) however besides...... a million. unencumber the names at the PED record, shall we all do not forget that this was once an MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL crisis, now not simply the Yankees or Red Sox or a couple of gamers. two. Make the steady season shorter and broaden the put up season to 4 rounds. If you are making the agenda 154 video games, you will have to nonetheless be in a position to conclude the arena sequence through Nov a million. More groups will take advantage of this as their groups are nonetheless be in rivalry throughout the final month of the season, groups who nonetheless accomplish a win % over .525 won't also be playoff groups. Which is why attendance turns out to dip amongst groups who begin to fall no less than four video games beneath a department chief or WC chief. three. Not only a cash cap however even a cash ground, this may drive groups just like the Marlins to spend for his or her lovers.

I would suggest the following: start off having only three cigarettes a day for a week, then cut down to two for a week and then down to one, then none at all. If you are a very heavy smoker you could start off with five a day instead of three. With this method, you are gradually weaning yourself off the nicotine and the habit, and you don't feel like you are depriving yourself as much. It's best to try and do it yourself without the use of patches, gum, etc as they just have you reliant on them instead of the cigs.

Another good thing to do is snack on shelled nuts instead. As well as being high in fiber and good for you, it gives you something to do with your hands and mouth, which is often a big part of the habit for most people.

Ultimately the only way to truly quit is to stop ingesting nicotine then let time purge it from your body. Only when it is out of your system do you stop craving it.

That said, if you need a nicotine substitute, try the new lozenges. They actually work quit well at killing the cravings for hours and they fulfill the oral fixation as well. If the 4mg ones give you hiccups, try the 2mg version before throwing in the towel on them.

It's the habit that is the real culprit. Go to your local health food store and ask for tea tree infused toothpicks. They will certainly help with the oral fixation. Nicotine gum sucks because you can't just chew it you have to gum and every now and then give a chew. Look, the nicotine will flush out of your system in less than a week. It's the mind that makes it so hard.

Try sucking on Jolly Ranchers lolli pops. Lots of flavor and last really long. I use to work at Hannaford and many people would ask if we had those because they used them to quit smoking. Good luck!!

Wellbutrin...an antidepressant that works for ridding you of the urge for nicotine. It works but does not take away the "habit" you will have to find a good habit to replace a bad one.

Go as long as you possibly can without a cig til you can't go any longer. Go one hr and then tell yourself, "I've waited one hr, I can wait another 15 min. Then maybe another 15." That is how I held my breath for so long under water. Eventually you will cut down to no cigs.
