I like both. Alanis Morissette for more of a rocker and Sheryl Crow for soft rock/pop/country...So depends in what category

Since you address only the singing aspect of their abilities, I'd go with Sheryl. I think Alanis's voice is too shrill for some things, whereas Sheryl can travel alot of territory with the texture of her voice.
