I had used TinyPersonal Firewall, Sygate Personal Firewall and a few others. I currently use ZoneAlarm and it is good. I haven't had any sour experiences with it yet.

I strongly suggest go in for SPF ( Sygate personel firewall) this
is a freeware ,downloadable from the NET. This falls in between
ur PC and the internet. It will sense and block any type of traffic going out and coming in to your PC. Even if u hav blocked an application which you want frm the setting>options one can already revert back. I have been using this for the past 4 years.

GO FOR SPF.

Zone alarm, I used the free version for many years. Bought the pro version now. I am not very happy with it, if you are going to pay for it, McAfee security center is the better option. If you want it free, zonealarm is the better choice.

I use the free version of ZoneAlarm. It updates automatically, and allows you to change your settings anytime you choose. They watch your anti-virus for you, keep track of bad email, too. I love it! With McAfee, and ZoneAlarm, I never had a virus, or trojan, whew! Lucky me!
