I am in the development process of building a massive multi player game with several other independant individuals, and at this time in development I am looking for what players like about massive multi player on-line games like World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, Everquest, ect. Also I would like input from everyone on what they would add to help the development and enjoyment of game play. All information will be used in the development process, as well as to bring the gaming community to a game with ideas brought out by you the gamer. (Anything will be considered and tested.) Thank you for your time.

things i like in MMOs:

- lots of new content. repetitivness is a big turnoff, whether it be grinding on mobs to be able to level up, or grinding rep (in WoW) to get certain rewards. if you're gonna need to grind something, at least change it up a bit and make it interesting

- lots of social interaction. make it easy to develop friendships with people and maintain communication. one of the aspects about WoW that keeps me coming back is all the friends I've made in my guild in the past 2 years.

- good graphics & music. people like to look cool, if you're going to be playing a lot you need good music that doesn't get annoying after long periods of time. it should blend into the background and not distract you

- a good UI, or lacking that do what Blizz did and make the interface open source so others can come up with good UIs and do the extensive testing for you.

1. graphics: lots of ppl buy the game just because the game looks cool. 2. Monthly fee or not, everyone enjoys free lunch. 3. Massive, I love EQ because you have have thousands of players on one server. 4. Computer hardware requirement(keep in mind not everyone willing to spend thousands of dollars to play games), EQ is the best at this, if you have a slow computer with less ram, you are still able to play, just turn spells effects, models etc off. If you have a fast pc with lots of ram, just turn everything on and enljoy. 5. In-game encomnemy, have something like bazaar or auction house where players can buy or sell in game items for in game money. 6. Communication, guild chat, channel chat, looking for group tool, buddy list etc. 7. Size of the world, the bigger the better, make sure you have in game maps tho, and fuctions allow players to make notes, leave a mark etc would be nice. 8. Character development and leveling, make sure you have enough area/zones/instances/ for all levels. Also system like AA in EQ. when you hit the lvl cap, you still gain exp towards AA and unlock many many alter skills. 9. Transportation, you will have boats, flying objects or teleports to move characters around, they can also purchase different mounts, nobody likes to walk a long distance. 10. Reputation system, Good or Evil. 11. monsters, items , races, classes. you better have a big number here to brag about. different level of items, normal, unique, rare, sets, player made... 11. PVP or PVE or RP, so everyone gets whatever they want. 12. Quests and rewards!! make the game exciting, dont make players just camp monsters for exp. 13. epic encounters with epic rewards, a must for hardcore gamers and high lvl guilds. 14. Don't forget to release an expansion pack once in a while, ppl love to see new zones, items, higher lvl cap even new classes or races. 15. Game masters, keep your world a lawful, healthy world. 16. In game events... for the holidays or just to have fun. 17. In game ranking, whos the player with most armor point on the server, with the most hit points or mana.... motivate ppl to get better.

ok here are the do's and donts of mmorpgs:

Do:
have an original combat system,
have a massive variety in monster (most mmorpgs lack this),
have duel weild weapons,
make the world big, but not too big.
have first person views for ranged weapons.
have veichles

dont:
HAVE ELVES AS A RACE (hate those god-dammed elves)
allow too many people on one server at a time (100 max)
allow people to trade money (optional)
have in-game pop ups (except for help boxes)

and there you have it, the does and donts of mmorpgs.

p.s. if you need any closed beta testers, email me on dacool@hotmail.co.uk
