The quality of education surely differs. The contrast is real, and the values are real.

Hopefully, if a person goes to college, they learn how to spell (or at least, use the spell checker).

College taught is where you are taught by certain textbooks and a Professor who is usually inflexible to any ideas other than what the textbook or other material has to offer. There is nothing wrong with this method as it is and has been accepted business practices that you are learning.
Self Taught is different simply because you are allowed to question the answers and seek alternative answers, a more of a common sense approach which Colleges seem to frown upon. Common sense isn't part of the College way of teaching. In self taught you will find that the determined student will get a more rounded and hands on education which certainly could involve trial and error more than the College would. However you will not get a College Degree in self taught, usually, unless it is the actual course work through the College and is done at home or some other setting and you follow the rules of handing in papers for grading and have finals just like a regular College. Self taught may give you the opportunity to get hands on real experience while working and learning which would be invaluable compared to book work only. E.

I'm college in that I went to college which was pretty useless. I'm also self- taught because I taught myself a lot of things (ie. learned on my own initiative outside of school). I suppose I am also "collage" taught too because I learned by piecing little bits of things together into one picture.
Thanks for coining the phrase "collage taught". It may have been a spelling mistake but it perfectly describes my learning style.

Well, first, a "collage" taught person is more likely to know the difference between a collage and a college.
