Because Burke's hand is not fully healed (which no one else knows) and she (his girlfirend - Dr. Cristina Yang) has to be there to assist him with his surgeries when he has difficulties. If she would have let Dr. Bailey scrub in with Burke instead of her and Burke had problems with keeping his hand steady, his problem would have been exposed and he would not be able to operate for a long time, if ever again.

She was trying to protect Dr. Burke because he has hand issues. Remember when Cristina said..."no one has to know". She erased the doctor's name off the board so no will find out the truth about Dr. Burke.

She is managing Burke's surgeries to cover the fact that his right hand has tremors and a loss of strength from time to time. Christina stands on his right in case he can not finish the precedure. That is why she told the surgical nurse to put his instruments on his left hand side. In particular she wanted Bailey out of there because she would not only have to tell the chief on Burke but she would have to report Christina as well. Unfortunately, Bailey saw her working the board and has to assume that Burke is allowing her to do so which is showing Christina undue favoritism. I imagine next show she will separate the two of them.

Cristina is very protective of Burke during his time back at the hospital after his hand was injured. She did not want Bailey in there seeing her do some of the work.

She did that because she has to be there with Burke to help him operate! She and Burke are keeping it a secret from everyone so they don't know he has not completely recovered yet.

Because Dr. Bailey would have suspected something was fishy with Christina doing all of the suturing. She did it to protect Burke.

she was trying to protect burke's secret about his unsteady hand during the surgery. if bailey was there she would have seen it and found it strange that christina had to complete the surgery for him

She's trying to protect him. He's having problems since being shot, so she didn't want the other doctor there in case he had a problem...something bad is going to happen!

She did it because she loves him and wants to protect him at any cost. But I bet it catches up with her and his secret will be out.
