If you are going the speed limit (and since you are hitting every red light i am assuming you are), you are right inside of the timing sequence. Officials have gone through and estimated how long it would take to get from point A to point B, and then time the lights accordingly. This is an attempt to slow people down, and these streets are usually high in the pedestrian traffic. It makes a win- win situation for officials because everyone is safe, but it tends to make drivers crazy. Speeding up and slowing down is usually the only way to disrupt the cycle for you (im not encouraging you to speed because these areas usually have cops around or cameras at each of the lights). On slower streets that are traveled as frequently, there are usually pressure plates on the side streets, so you are good until someone hits one of those plates on the side street. if you run some of the less travelled streets then you are more likely to hit greens, or a shorter wait at red lights. There is the basic mechanics... what you do with the information is up to you!!!

I hate that! I hate waiting on nothing. I leave work sometimes real early in the morning and there is no traffic, and I'm stuck at a red light. I usually run them.

Because you're driving on the wrong street. If you were driving on the intersecting street. The light would be green.
