Try Bobbi Brown Oil-Free Even Finish Foundation SPF 15 (#3 beige or #4 natural). The texture is very light and tender for the skin. And it doesn't look cakey at all.
It's a really good foundation.

I don't have fair skin but I have found Clinique foundation to be a healthy and middle-of-the-road not too expensive option.
Are you using the right colour shade? And is your foundation suited to your skin type? lol Do you know what skin type you have?
Go to the clinique counter and ask the sales lady for some advice and, if you manage to narrow down the possibilities to a couple of choices, enquire regarding a sample. I never buy foundation without first taking a sample home to try out. Its the only way to be sure about the colour and wear.
Also, if you use a liquid foundation, be sure you aren't applying it too heavily. A common mistake is too wear foundation like a mask covering the whole face. Remeber that less, rather than more, will actually look better. Foundation is meant to even out your skin tone, not to mask the skin beneath. A small touch of concealer beforehand is a better option for blemishes.
Lastly, finish and set your foundation with a very light dusting of compressed powder. If you need to touch up or refresh later on, a very fine mist of rose water or something similar, sprayed from a distance, will help to reblend and reset your foundation and is a better idea than putting more on. Take of the shine with just a tiny thin trace of powder and you're good to go.
Knock em dead gf!

you want to opt for a starting up with a yellow undertone. If starting up or powder is searching orange on you it skill it has a pink/ undertone and also you maximum in all chance have a yellow undertone. At Mac there foundations are available in NW and NC. after I first began wearing Mac starting up I further the colour nw45. I be conscious that the starting up made me appear like an orange. Then someone informed me to modify to NC50. it really is an same colour as nw45 yet with a yellow undertone. And it became my suitable tournament.

Well i use Maybelline's pure makeup. works great fopr any skin type.
the pure foundation is 50% wtaerbased and oil free. wont clog pores. and it wont cause breakouts. has long lasting coverage. has vitE, alow, chamomile to soothe skin. its sooo skin friendly. i LOVE this product. my classmates and shcoolmates have commented me and siad i look blooming. :) its a gel/liquid foundation by the way.

after you apply the foundation, you can use the pure concealer to cover those scars or whatever. but the foundation can give good coverage already. but to be sure about the coverage, use the concealer also.

after concealing, touch up with the pure powder. that also includes aloe, chamomile, and vitE to soothe skin. just pat lightly onto your face. whenever you need to retouch, just use the powder. no need to apply foundation again and again. i love maybelline's puremakeup!!!! not cakey at all.

Try mac studio fix, Its a favourite with make-up artists they do a good range of colours it looks flawless and it last all day. Slightly pricey but extremely worth it just to know that you will never have a dodgy foundation ever again! Can be found in most good department stores.

Aromaleigh...it's mineral makeup that looks beautiful and natural on and never gets cakey. In fact, it's the only makeup I've ever tried that doesn't get cakey on my skin. I threw out all my liquid foundation once I started using this stuff.

Try Bare minerals by Bare Escentuals. It covers well and makes you look like a natural beauty without being cakey and heavy. If you visit their store in the mall, the ladies will help you find a color that suits your skin. Best wishes!
