Because the demand is so high on white babies--not enough white babies up for adoption for all the parents who want them. It also makes the cost of adopting a white baby really high. Adopting a child of a different race can be less expensive and will be faster too. The parents won't have to be on a waiting list for years to get a white baby when they can get another baby in months.

Because Africa is mostly black people and their children are black. So if a white America goes to Africa to adopt an orphan they will see black children there. Sounds like logic to me. If an African person came to America to adopt, they would mostly see white and blacks children. All children need love and a family. If a person or a couple wants a child or children, they have every right to adopt. I'd rather see families full of children rather than orphanages full of children. More people should adopt. These child have a right to live and to love and to learn, like all adults do.

Celebrity adoption makes the news. I have several white friends that were unable to conceive, thee adoption process here is so long a drawn out and there are so many orphans in other parts of th world, that you can adopt sooner...and that would be babies of all colors.

To me it's just another way for the super rich to thumb their noses at the rest of us. It's like a luxury item the rest of us can't afford. It's also a marketing ploy for actors. Look at the coverage it gets. If one of you super rich supposed charitable big shots needs to help someone. Look me up I can point you in the right direction. But I doubt you'd get the press coverage you want for helping a 15 year old American boy.

Because the celebrities are doing it so it must be the "in" thing now.Never mind that there are several children in our own countries in need. I think its more about the "exotic" than actually doing something from your heart!
