Don't you get it? It's not about others. There ARE no others. It's only them. Other people are here on the earth only to be of some use to them. When the usefullness is over, then it's on to the next. It's like buying a new pair of shoes. People are disposable to them. They are toxic and to be avoided at all costs. You will never change them or have meaning to them that is real. They are incapable of loving anyone but themselves but sometimes, they love how you make them feel about themselves. That's all you will ever get. Run like the wind.

The answer lies in their very nature. If at first a person feeds their ego, then they are pleased to have them around. Then, as the person begins to get tired of constantly feeding their ego and getting little if anything in return, the narcissist begins to devalue the person. The narcissist, being really insecure, begins to put the other person down so that (s)he feels superior by comparison. Eventually (s)he finds someone else who will feed her/his ego. At this point (s)he no longer needs the first person and tosses them aside like a used Kleenex.

Mikey...ur funny! LOL
They never did value the person. People are pawns to them.
So, how can a narcissist value anything, other than their own
sense of worth, in the first place. Their missing some major
screws. Ain't all there. They are hand n hand with the sociopath

Because they have a grandiose sense of self-importance; they believe that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by other special people, which they never find. They require excessive amount of admiration. Perhaps when their present partner stops admiring them, they move on... 8-|
They take advantage of others to achieve their own end... They're arrogant, they lack empathy, they think they can charm anyone. They have the characteristics of nothing more than psychopaths, ie., lack feelings, don't care about other's feelings.

My short and cynical answer is that it's a final act of mercy. Thank god they move on, who needs more of them?
The longer answer would be that narcissists are constantly looking for another mirror that will reflect their image of themselves. Having one person fall for it is not enough. There must always be another and another and another.

I don't follow your question. A narcissist is a person who
is in love with his or her own personal appearance and abilities.
