You do need to see a doctor. The cause of blood in the stool is caused by many things. It could be because you ate something that scratched your insides.(This would probably heal all by itself. Or need some antibiotics to prevent infection.) I knew a little boy that ate sunflower seeds and the seeds scratch his intestines. He was just fine. It could be because of a little hemhroid, or from straining when having a b.m. or a bleeding ulcer.
But there can be other causes as well. What you need to do is tell your mom or dad. They can make an appointment with your doctor. Don't worry. They won't go looking at your bottom. What will happen is, up will be given a set of three cards and three sticks. When you have a b.m. then you put the stick in the b.m. and smear a tiny amount on the card and then do that again from different part of the b.m. for another place on the card. Then the next day or the next b.m. after that you will repeat the steps. When all three cards are collected you will take or send it to the doctors lab. They will put a couple drops of a special solution on the little test window. If the color turns blue then it is possitive for blood. If it does not turn blue then the test is negative. Then with the test results the doctor will talk to you about if you have nothing to worry about or if you need more testing done. When the test are all done you can feel much better by not worrying about what's going on. I know it can be very scarry to not know. You will probably be just fine. But do the test because it will put your mind at ease.

Hi there,
It could be a number of things from a minor infection in your rectum, hemorrhoids (a mass of tissues that are in the anal canal) to a tear in the rectal lining (sometimes due to straining, lifting heavy objects etc.). I would STRONGLY suggest making your parents aware of the blood in your stool. It's nothing to be embarrassed about, and if you let them know they can schedule you an appointment with your doctor to diagnose the problem. If you let this go un-treated it could get a lot worse and cause some serious damage to your rectum. I'm sure your parents will be more than happy to schedule you an appointment to get everything straightened out. Hope this helps, and good luck!!

sometimes you could have eaten something red; sometimes it could be from straining; or it could be a sign of something more serious. If it is more than just once, go get checked out ; it is not a fun thing but neither is surgery, or dying; Early detection is the key to saving your life and body parts. Funny, I just got back from the hospital tonight where my 29 son was just told that they would have to remove his colon and wear a bag. He waited and waited and suffered and suffered for the fear of going and being checked. It now has set him down a worse path. Get checked out. Don't wait. No one ever died from embarrassment - so what - you are worth seeing that you have a good healthy life - tell your parents so they don't feel like I do tonight - they love you and want to help - let them - good luck

Are you straining when you go to the toilet? Are you less regular than once per day? If you answer 'yes' to one or both of these questions, then that's the problem. If you're not going regular enough and having to strain when you do go, then you can burst tiny veins. Try eating more fruit and veg, especially fruits with skin on e.g. apples, plums, prunes, etc. Also, make sure you have lots of fiber in your diet. Try snacking on sunflower seeds, as they are very high in dietary fiber. If you try all this for a week and you still see blood, then go see your doc and get checked out.

umm...i'm asian with traditional asian parents. I would tell them because it's not something caused by you or not like you did something bad. My traditional parents would probably tell me it's because my body isn't feeling well right now and that my body temperature's probably abnormally high. They'd tell me to drink lots of water, get rest, and sleeping is essential. Sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Whatever you do, if it doesn't stop in couple of days, you NEED to see your doctor.

it could be serious and it's something that if it has been happening for multiple days in a row you should go see a doctor because it could be a few different things and some of them could become fatal if left untreated

It all depends on what color of blood it is. Is it bright red? If it is and not much of it, it is probably a hemmarhoid...If it is dark red or black, that is not a good sign. Either way, go to your doctor.

It just means that your body is rejecting something that you are eating. Or you are straining. You need to drink more water
