Cheaper for you if you're planning to drink alot while you're in the store... They're hoping that you will buy the larger cup because you'll want to take the "free" large drink refill out the door with you, and they make more money off that paper cup than they do from your 15 refills. Trust me, fast food industry is NOT losing money. That $2.00 soda probably costs them a fraction of a cent for the actual drink and maybe 2 cents for the cup. They save labor costs and shorten your time in line by having YOU make the drink. Your bladder can't hold enough refills for them to lose money on it!

If you're driving through, and you order a pop, there's little chance that you're gonna come back and refill it. But when you're eating in the resteraunt, there's a good chance that when you go back to fill up your drink, you'll glance at the menu again and think "Hmm...that looks good I think I'll get one." In the long run they actually make more money by offering free refills because people go back up and decide to buy more food.

Depends. I order a small for my child because one little pepsi is all an 8 year old needs, then he switches to water. As for me, I order the value meal, which comes with a big drink. I am a heavy drinker and it is worth 19 cents extra for me to not have to get up and down from my meal to refill my tea 2 or 3 times in a tiny cup. Yeah, I'm a sucker and I'm lazy, but I ain't too cheap to pay the extra 19 cents.

yes it would be cheaper, but some people are stupid. or sometimes they offer a large drink included in a value menu, so you think 'oh i might as well order the whole thing altogether'. or sometimes if you're on a trip or something you want to drink your large pop on the road and not have to refill it 500 times.

That's a good point but once you leave the restaurant after dining in, you're still stuck with the small cup. once you leave you can't refill anymore, so that's why i would get the large cup.

Because it's for people who go through the drive thru's and maybe people who dine in just don't want to keep getting up and refilling or maybe they like to take it home you know like take home a lot of soda. Maybe they don't have any soda at home..i don't know

They get more money out of the larger sizes. Read Fast Food Nation. It tells you the whole deal.
