Might work for helcopters or small planes, but not for commerical planes because of the SPEED they fly.

Another reason not to have a parachute is that the flight is no longer controlled once a parachute is deployed.

The big planes "parachute" are its wings, which allow for a controlled descent, usually 8 lengths or more of flight for every length down.

What are you talking about?

If you mean so it can land, there's a little bit of information that you need for your answer. Even with a huge parachute the airplane will hit the ground at 20-25 miles per hour. Obviously this would destroy the plane and severely injure or kill everyone inside.
