European history before the 18th century is marked by warfare between states, and uprisings by the masses that rarely result in a change of type of government. Just a matter of shuffling kings or queens. However, after the American and French revolutions, Europe was rocked with one revolution after another by peoples demanding a new type of government, which has lasted all the way to World War II. While there has been similiar "popular revolts" for new types of government elsewhere, the revolutions has had its most profound impact on European history in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The American Revolution influenced revolutuions around the world, France being on of them. The American Revolution resulted in a republic straight away, and it has lasted for a very long time, making america a powerful country.

The French Revolution accomplished overthrowing and executing the royal family, and then made a short-lived attempt at a democracy. France then reverted back into a monarchy, after a bloody revolution, taking away one king and then allowing another one to take his place. (Napoleon).

Overall, the French Revolution didn't accomplish anything aside from blood, and then, wars over the control of Europe. That failed.
