Yes, it is overrated. There is some rap music that I like, but very little. It is degrading to women and some minorities, you only have to listen to the lyrics to figure that out. Honestly, do you ever hear any of it degrading a white male?

I'm not sure, really. Some people like it, some don't, and in my opinion it's talking rather than music. I think "degrading women" is a bit of a strong term for something that was meant to be a piece of money making entertainment.

Although I do like some rap I think that it is overrated and has more hype then it deserves. I do believe that some rap does degrade minorities and women.

In the 70's it was good but now I think it degrades women and it is not even music it's just people bad mouthing others.

I don't know about it degrading anyone, but I think it just sucks. I have only ever heard maybe 4 rap songs worth hearing.
