My sbc yahoo dsl works on my laptop, while it does not work on my desktop, which is hooked up to the same router and modem. Does anybody know the problem and how I could fix it?

If the PC use to be connected directly to the modem before introduction of the router into the equation, it may still be attempting to use PPPoE to establish a connection. Check and alter the nic cards network settings as needed.

Assuming all of your equipment is fine:

Check the settings for your local area network connection on your desktop computer. Go into network connections, select local area network, click properties, select TCP/IP and click properties again.

Whatever you see there should match your laptop settings- which is usually "Obtain an IP address auotmatically" and "Obtain DNS server automatically". If it's different, change it to what your laptop is using.

set ur router up on desktop an have wireless set up fro ur laptop from ur router when you have router set up on ur desktop. then from there enter router home page set up a wireless connection secure network id and .secure password for da wireless network ., if you cant do this call ur (isp) they should help you ur paying for internet so it is upto them to give you .da support
