"I didn't really want to get involved in the war," Kerry said in a little-noticed contribution to a book of Vietnam reminiscences published in 1986. "When I signed up for the swift boats, they had very little to do with the war. They were engaged in coastal patrolling and that's what I thought I was going to be doing."
But two weeks after he arrived in Vietnam, the swift boat mission changed -- and Kerry went from having one of the safest assignments in the escalating conflict to one of the most dangerous. Under the newly launched Operation SEALORD, swift boats were charged with patrolling the narrow waterways of the Mekong Delta to draw fire and smoke out the enemy. Cruising inlets and coves and canals, swift boats were especially vulnerable targets.

chedron, others did not demand their CO file the reports to get them. Most got them when someone other than themselves thought they deserved it.

Your kidding, right? There is no such thing as a safe occupation in the Armed Services during time of war. From a clerk to a commando, you can get shot. Just ask nearly 3000 war dead and countless thousands of wounded in Iraq.

Why he wanted out so fast? He did not. He took a second tour in the swift boats, even after they became more dangerous.
This entire swift boat thing SHOULD have been a non-issue. The Swift Boat Veterans for Bush were not there, did not see it.
And frankly, if you call Kerry's medals into question, then aren't you calling into question every medal won by every service man? I mean, if Kerry can get these bronze stars and purple hearts without deserving them, then couldn't others? Are these SVBs saying that that Navy gives out medals for NOTHING? Or are we to believe that they only gave undeserved ones to Kerry?
I honor ALL our servicemen, no matter what their party. If Kerry won medals, then I have to believe that he deserved them, or else I have to believe that ALL military decorations are questionable. And THAT, I will not do. We owe our decorated servicemen better.

How precisely replaced into he slandering John McCain? He replaced into speaking approximately McCain's political stance on the subject concerns. this is an election regardless of each little thing, isn't that what your meant to do? So by skill of your logic, in basic terms because of the fact he replaced right into a POW interior the vietnam war we at the instant are not meant to question something John McCain says or does... plenty for freedom of speech there Sparky.

Ask the Army Ranger who was rescued by Kerry. Ask the men who actually served with Kerry and not the jealous swift boat officers who have no personal knowledge of what Kerry did under fire.
