It seems like after I eat chocolate, i break out on my face? I have heard that this is a myth, but I wonder why this happens. I want to enjoy the taste of chocolate like the rest of you.

maybe you are allergic to something in it...usually when your face breaks out..it's from the oils from your skin..check with your doctor, maybe he/she can test to see if you are allergic to it.. good luck.. :)

It may not be the chocolate but before you jump to any conclusions try not eating chocolate at all for a month or something and see what happens. Sometimes after eating chocolate you touch your face and the oils from the chocolate get on your skin and make you break out. If it turns out that the chocolate IS giving you breakouts talk to your dermatoligist and see if maybe it's an allergic reaction because NO chocolate does not give you breakouts- oily fingers, oily foods, stress, periods those DO give you pimples.

I agree with the comment previously made, about chocolate not causing breakouts, however a good diet will allow your body, skin and hair to benefit overall. So just try to eat chocolate in moderation. My advice is to eat dark chocolate when you are really craving chocolate, it tastes more bitter and admittedly, it could take some getting used to. However, it contains more vitamins, and the coco percentage is higher than that of milk chocolate so your cravings are satisfied sooner. This would then mean that you're likely to eat less and feel and look better because of everything it has to offer! Check out the link listed in my source to read about the benefits of dark chocolatesuch as: vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants.

It is a myth. It is not the chocolate, it is the caffeine in the chocolate that causes the breakouts. Caffeine speeds up the metabolism, therefore speeding up the production of things like sebum (which is a natural oil in our skin). So anything with caffeine can cause breakouts. Limit yourself to how much you eat of chocolate as well as sodas, teas, and other things that contain a high amount of caffeine. Also be careful of sugar period...limit that as well.
